Pizza

Pizza is made from seasoned flatbread and different choices of topping. It originated in the Mediterranean, Greeks and Phoenicians first discovered the product of flour and water to make flatbread. This would be made by placing it on a hot stone and seasoning it with dry herbs. The Greeks first called it Plankuntos, but it wasn't a main course, but a sort of edible plate used when serving thick broths or stews. The word 'Pizza' comes from the Latin word pinsa, and means flatbread. Archeologists recently discovered preserved Pizza in the Veneto region.
